The winter season is always a busy one. Often, the only time we realize that it has arrived is because we find ourselves slipping our chilly fingers into warm mittens or grabbing a hat before heading out into the morning cold. All of a sudden, we’re busy buying presents and kitting out our homes in twinkly lights and festive decorations. And before we know it, it’s time to celebrate the arrival of a new year.
As we watch the cycle of the seasons go by, we are also reminded of the cycle of life. Perhaps it’s due to the frosty weather outside, but we are brought closer together in the warmth of our homes. It is also a time that brings the love that binds families together to the forefront. We are reminded that we are all on this journey of life together and thus we rejoice in each other’s company. What then, is more beautiful than the arrival of another addition to the family during this time. A precious new bundle arriving during the Christmas season only makes us more aware of the prevailing and all-encompassing love that we feel in families. A new baby adds to the love, brings warmth where there is coldness, and becomes another reason for celebration during this celebratory time.
These are just some of the reasons that I take particular joy in Christmas newborn sessions. Whether they be festively themed or simply classical – there’s just something special about them. Speaking of festively themed, I, of course, have a whole range of Christmas newborn props from adorably miniature Santa hats perfect for a newborn to gift decorations that work wonderfully as a background in any newborn session. A clear white background can also look fantastic during Christmas newborn sessions as it creates a snowy effect while making the adorably fresh features of your precious little bundles stand out all the more.
I always consider it an honor to be chosen by expecting parents to capture the first newborn pictures of their new addition to the family. During this time of celebration when family is of utmost importance, I consider it a blessing. The beauty of the arrival of a new life into the world is all the more magic during this season and it is this magic and new love that I hope to capture in every single one of my newborn images. Knowing that I am seizing this love into an image for parents to look back on for years to come provides me with my own feelings of awe and celebration. I hope to create newborn images that can be looked back on during any season, any year and inspire the same feelings of pride and love that were felt at the moment of the taking of the pictures. The arrival of a baby is the most precious gift that anyone could hope to receive during the Christmas period, I hope to continue enhancing this experience for expecting parents and capturing the beauty of the overwhelming love and celebration that comes with every newborn.
